Punjab: Two die in separate roof collapse incidents after heavy rains
Bathinda/Sri Muktsar Sahib, August 7: In recent tragic incidents, two persons including a two-year-old child died in two separate roof collapse accidents in Punjab.
According to reports, a roof of a residence collapsed in Bathinda, killing a two-year-old boy. The deceased's father, Baldev Singh, said that his son was asleep when the room's ceiling fell.
The accident, according to the family members, was caused by the recent heavy rains which made the condition of the roof, which was already poor, worse.

The family has sought financial assistance from the Punjab government.
In another incident, recent severe rains in Sri Mukatsar Sahib caused a shop's roof to fall. The incident resulted in the death of the shop owner and the injury of a worker and a customer.
The reports state that the deceased son was also present when the roof collapsed. After the accident, the shop owner was taken to a hospital in Delhi, where he was declared dead.
