Punjab: Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, family pay obeisance at Golden Temple in Amritsar
Amritsar, October 26: Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar paid obeisance at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Wednesday. He was accorded a warm welcome by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami. The Vice-President was accompanied by his family members.
Jagdeep Dhankar also partook of ‘langar’ (community kitchen) at the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
On the occasion, Advocate Dhami also submitted a memorandum to the Vice-President seeing the release of Sikh prisoners. Advocate Dhami had earlier said the SGPC would give a memorandum to the Vice-President for the release of ‘Bandi Singhs’ (Sikh prisoners). He had said the issue was the most important for the Sikh community.
It is learnt that Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar has assured the SGPC chief of taking up the matter with the Union Cabinet.

Last month, the SGPC had sought time from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the issue of the release of Sikh prisoners.
Meanwhile, tight security arrangements were in place for Dhankhar’s day-long visit to Amritsar. He will also be visiting Jallianwalla Bagh, Durgiana Temple and Ram Tirath Temple.
