Punjab dog menace: Pitbull attacks couple in Patiala, mauls woman's arms; FIR registered
PTC News Desk: A couple suffered critical injuries after a pet pitbull attacked them while they had gone to view a house for rent in Punjab's Patiala. The incident was caught in the CCTV showing the god, reportedly a pitbull aggressively attacking them while the couple struggling to save themselves.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered against unidentified person in this case under Sections 291, 125A and 125B of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The owner of the dog has not yet been identified. Police said the owner's name will be added to the case once they are identified.
The incident took place on Tuesday evening when Ankit Sabharwal and his wife Shifali, residents of Patiala, had gone to Ghuman Nagar along with a property dealer to view a house for rent.

As the man shouted for help, the dog briefly let go of him but attacked the woman again, biting her arm. Hearing their screams, around five to six people rushed to the spot with sticks. They reportedly hit the dog several times, after which it released the couple and ran back inside the house.
CCTV footage of the entire incident has also surfaced. The injured couple was taken to a hospital, where the woman underwent surgery on her arm. The man received stitches on his leg and back.
Commenting on the incident, Patiala Mayor Kundan Gogia said that keeping aggressive dog breeds as pets would be banned in the city.
He said the matter would be discussed at a House meeting of the municipal corporation and a special resolution would be considered in this regard.
The incident has once again reignited alarming concerns over dog menace with rising case of dog attacks in the city. Earlier, on August 9, a girl was allegedly mauled by a stray dog while passing through Guru Nanak Nagar area.
