'Red colour' warning issued in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi as temperature goes below normal

A senior scientist at the National Weather Forecasting Centre, RK Jenamani, said that 'red colour' warning has been issued for Saturday and Sunday in areas like Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, north Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh following the dip in the temperatures. Jenamani was quoted by news agency ANI as saying, "December 2019 is a record-breaking cold season. During the night time, a cold wave may be witnessed." He added that "For Delhi, severe cold wave has been witnessed in the last 24 hours. For the first time, we have updated the warning to red colour. In Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, the temperature from zero to one-degree Celsius is very dangerous." Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a 'red colour' warning in places including Delhi for Sunday and Monday as the weather in Delhi has dropped to 2.4 degree Celsius and is likely to plunge further. https://www.ptcnews.tv/mann-ki-baat-pm-narendra-modi-air-doordarshan-caa-protests-en/ Jenamani added that "We have given red colour warning for Sunday and Monday for Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, North Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh as the temperatures are usually below the normal here. Also, zero visibility at the IGI Airport was witnessed in Delhi due to which the flights have got affected." Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh are under a layer of dense fog, while situation in Punjab is still better. The warning is for two days and there is no warning for December 31, he added. -PTC News
