Rejected by Indian Army twice, TN youth joins Ukraine army
Chennai, March 8: A 21-year-old from Tamil Nadu was rejected twice by the Indian Army. But now he is fighting in the Ukrainian army against Russian troops. As per intelligence reports received by the Centre, Tamil Nadu's Sainikhesh Ravichandran of Thudaliyur in Coimbatore is a student of Aerospace engineering at Kharkiv National University, Ukraine.
Sources said a group of Central intelligence bureau officers visited Sainikhesh Ravichandran's residence some days back and collected all details regarding him.
As per his parents, Sainikhesh Ravichandran had always been inclined towards joining the military and armed. His parents also showed his room full of photographs of Indian military and officers to Central intelligence bureau officials.

It is learnt Sainikesh enquired with the US consulate in Chennai to join in the US military, but he knew it was not possible and returned home.
His family members said he was pursuing his five-year aerospace engineering course and had informed them before the war outbreak that he had got employment in a video game developing company. However, they came to know that he had joined the Ukraine forces only when the intelligence sleuths visited them.
His family is now worried and has urged the Indian authorities to ensure safe return of their son from Ukraine amid the outbreak of war with Russia.
