 Amid the intensifying Russian offensive in Ukraine, the Indian embassy on Wednesday issued a fresh advisory for its citizens living in Kharkiv and advised them that they "must leave" immediately and reach Pesochin, Babaye and Bezlyudovka settlements by 1800 hrs. "Urgent advisory to all Indian Nationals in Kharkiv. For their safety and security, they must leave Kharkiv immediately in light of the deteriorating situation. They should Proceed to Pesochin, Babaye and Bezlyudovka as soon as possible for their safety. Under all circumstances they must reach these settlements by 1800 hrs (Ukrainian time) today," the Indian embassy in Ukraine said.

For the students who cannot find means of transportation, the advisory suggested to proceed on foot. Indians must leave Kharkiv 'immediately' "Those students who cannot find vehicles or buses and are in railway station can proceed on foot to Pisocgyn (11km), Babai (12km) and Bezlyudovka (16km)," the advisory read.

In the meantime, 16 flights have evacuated stranded Indian nationals from Ukraine as of Wednesday. Also Read | Why is Russia declaring war against Ukraine? Here’s what you should know Earlier on Tuesday, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla had said that Indians have left Kiev and nearly 60 percent of Indian nationals in Ukraine have left the war-torn country, so far.

Indians must leave Kharkiv 'immediately' "All of our nationals have left Kiev. The information with us is that we have no more nationals left in Kiev, nobody has contacted us from Kiev since. All our enquiries reveal that each and every one of our nationals has come out of Kiev," Shringla said at a media briefing on the evacuation of Indians from Ukraine. He claimed that out of an estimated 20,000 Indian citizens in Ukraine, 60% have departed since the government issued its initial advisory.

Indians must leave Kharkiv 'immediately' "We had an estimated 20,000 Indian nationals in Ukraine at the time we issued our first advisory. Approximately 12,000 have left Ukraine so far, which means 60 per cent of the people have left the country. Of the remaining 40 per cent, roughly half remain in the conflict zone in Kharkiv and the other half have either reached the western border of Ukraine or are heading towards the western border.
