SAMPRITI-X: India, Bangladesh 12-day joint military drill culminates

Bangladesh, June 16: The 10th edition of the joint military exercise, SAMPRITI X, between the Indian Army and the Bangladeshi Army concluded with a validation exercise at Jashore Military Station in Bangladesh, as part of ongoing Indo-Bangladesh defence cooperation.

The 12-day joint exercise led to a better understanding and cooperation between the two armies, according to a tweet from the Additional Directorate General of Public Information. Exercise SAMPRITI is a major bilateral defence cooperation effort between India and Bangladesh, which is hosted by both countries alternately. The exercise was held from June 5 to June 16, 2022. This is a major bilateral defence cooperation exercise that both countries alternately conduct in order to develop and broaden aspects of interoperability and collaboration between their militaries.

The exercise aims to strengthen interoperability between the two armies while also learning about each other's tactical drills and operational techniques. A Battalion of the DOGRA Regiment represented the Indian contingent of company strength, and the contingent departed by road for the exercise location on June 4, 2022. During the joint military exercise Ex SAMPRITI-X, militaries from both countries shared expertise in a variety of simulated scenarios, including counter-terrorism, humanitarian aid and disaster relief, and UN Peacekeeping Force under UN mandate.

The schedule for the joint exercise was progressively planned in a manner that the participants initially got familiar with each other's organisational structure and tactical drills. Joint tactical exercises were undertaken as the exercise continued, allowing both contingents to practise their joint battle drills. The exercise came to a close with a final validation exercise in which troops from both armies practised a Counter-Terrorism Operation in a simulated environment.

This exercise provided an opportunity for increased cultural understanding to enhance trust and collaboration between the military of both nations, in addition to sharing best practices and understanding each other at the tactical level. The exercise will benefit both armies by allowing them to learn from each other's extensive expertise, contributing to regional peace and stability.
