SGPC chief honours members of Sikh jatha from Pakistan

Chandigarh, May 3: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami on Tuesday honoured members of Sikh jatha from Pakistan, who came to pay obeisance at Golden Temple in Amritsar. This Sikh jatha from Pakistan reached India via Wagha Border on April 22 under the leadership of Pritam Singh of Sri Nankana Sahib. They  came to Amritsar on Monday after paying obeisance at Sikh shrines in Delhi and Sri Anandpur Sahib. Honouring the members of the Sikh jatha on their arrival at the information centre of the Golden Temple, Amritsar, SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said it was a matter of great pleasure that a majority of Sikhs residing in Pakistan were 'Amritdhari'. Also Read | India logs 2,568 new Covid-19 infections; active caseload 19,137 Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said the 100th-year centenary of 'Shaheedi Saka' of Sri Panja Sahib was being marked by Sikh Qaum on October 30 this year, and efforts would be made to send a jatha of Sikh pilgrims from India to Pakistan. Pritam Singh from Pakistan said 48 Sikh pilgrims had arrived in India on a 15-day visa for paying obeisance at gurdwara sahibs. They thanked the SGPC chief for the honour and invited him to Pakistan.
