Shaheed Diwas 2022: Tributes to Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar started to pour in as India observed the death anniversary of the three young freedom fighters on Wednesday, March 23. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to the revolutionaries Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru on Martyrs' Day (Shaheed Diwas) and said that their passion to die for the motherland will always inspire the countrymen. “On Martyrs' Day, salutations to Veer Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru, the immortal sons of Bharat Mata. Their spirit of sacrificing their lives for the motherland will always inspire the countrymen. Jai Hind!,” PM Modi said on Twitter. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, on Martyr's Day 2022, paid floral tributes to Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev at Hussaniwala (Ferozepur). Homage to Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru Union home minister Amit Shah on Martyrs Day 2022 said that the patriotism of the trio aroused the spirit of freedom during foreign rule and continues to inspire every Indian even today. "Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru are such strong pillars of the Indian independence movement, whose patriotism and devotion to the motherland not only instilled the spirit of independence in the people, but their sacrifices still inspire every Indian," the Union Minister said in a roughly translated tweet. Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday paid tribute to the young revolutionaries. Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu while paying homage to the martyrs shared a quote by Bhagat Singh and said that "their dreams are still unrealised !"

Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Shaheed Diwas 2022 said, “On the martyrdom day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru, the immortal symbols of the country's freedom movement, I bow to them. Every countryman will forever be indebted to the immortal sacrifice of these heroes of the country.” Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also paid tribute to the freedom fighters and said that Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru are ideas that will remain immortal forever. "Whenever there is a voice against injustice, there will be a reflection of these martyrs in that voice," he tweeted. Meanwhile, reiterating his demand to rename Chandigarh International Airport as Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Congress MP Manish Tewari urged Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann to lend support to his "36-month long quest" and asked home minister Amit Shah to use his "veto with Haryana". In 1928, the trio was convicted of murdering deputy police superintendent JP Saunders to avenge the death of Lala Lajpat Rai.
