SIT questions SAD patron Parkash Singh Badal in 2015 Kotkapura police firing case

Chandigarh, October 12: A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Punjab Police, which is probing the 2015 Kotkapura police firing case, on Wednesday questioned former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at his residence here. The SIT was led by Additional Director General of Police LK Yadav. Notably,  Parkash Singh Badal was the Punjab Chief Minister the police firing took place at Kotkapura in 2015. Earlier on September 14, the SIT had questioned SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal in the case. The incidents relate to the theft of a 'bir' of Guru Granth Sahib, handwritten sacrilegious posters, and pages of the holy book being torn at Bargari in Faridkot seven years ago. These incidents had triggered protests, leading to the death of two at Behbal Kalan and leaving some injured at Kotkapura in police firing. Later, the then Congress government formed an SIT under the chairmanship of ADGP LK Yadav. On Tuesday, the SIT went to the crime spot at Kotakpura and re-examined the incident site. SIT member and Moga SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana obtained information from the witnesses. Even after seven years of the incident, the police investigation continues. Earlier, this incident was investigated under the supervision of the then IG Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh. As per reports, Parkash Singh Badal has assured the team of all cooperate in the investigation.
