Sonali Phogat death case: Goa Police arrest restaurant owner, drug peddler

Anjuna, August 27: The Goa Police have made two more arrests in BJP leader Sonali Phogat's death case. The owner of Curlies beach shack in Anjuna and a suspected drug peddler identified as Dattprashad Gaonkar have been arrested. Now, a total of four arrests have been made so far. On Friday, BJP leader Sonali Phogat's PA Sudhir Sangwan and his associate Sukhwinder Singh were arrested. Also Read | Sidhu Moosewala murder case: Punjab Police present 1,850-page chargesheet in Mansa court; nominate 36 accused The Goa Police said the duo, who travelled to Goa with Sonali Phogat on August 22, had had confessed to have spiked the drink of the BJP leader with some "obnoxious" chemical. Both Sangwan and Sukhwinder will be produced in the court on Saturday. It is learnt that suspected peddler Gaonkar had allegedly supplied drugs to Sukhwinder Singh. He has been arrested based on the investigation. As per the Goa Police, the statement of more than 20-25 persons had been recorded so far in the case. These included the staff of Curlies Restaurant and others. The owner of the restaurant is being questioned by the police. A post-mortem report revealed blunt force injury on her body, following which the Goa Police registered a murder case. Phogat's PA and his associate were arrested after police accessed the CCTV footage in which the trio were seen partying at a club. Her brother Rinky Dhaka said, "We are satisfied with how the investigation into the murder of my sister has progressed. The CCTV footage has revealed the truth.
