BCCI awards Rs 21 crore to Asia Cup-winning Indian cricket team for unbeaten run
PTC Web Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash reward of Rs 21 crore for the Indian cricket team and its support staff following their unbeaten campaign in the recently concluded Asia Cup. The announcement comes after India secured a thrilling five-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in the final held in Dubai on Sunday.
“It was an extraordinary triumph. To celebrate this achievement, the BCCI has declared a prize of Rs 21 crore for the players and support staff who contributed to India’s Asia Cup success,” BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said. The board, however, has not yet shared the detailed breakdown of the distribution of the prize money.
Saikia added, “This reward is a significant recognition for our cricketers and support staff, and it brings pride to the Indian cricket board as well as cricket fans across the country.”
The BCCI expressed its joy on social media, highlighting India’s flawless record in the tournament. “Three blows. 0 response. Asia Cup Champions. Rs 21 crores prize money for the team and support staff,” the board tweeted, celebrating India’s clean sweep against Pakistan.
Board vice president Rajeev Shukla also congratulated the team, noting, “The undefeated champions of Asia! Congratulations to Team India for a dominating win and a 3-0 record against Pakistan. Tilak Verma and Kuldeep Yadav delivered an exceptional performance under pressure.”
India remained unbeaten throughout the Asia Cup, winning all seven of its matches in a spectacular display of skill and teamwork.
