Commonwealth Games 2026: India's medal tally hits 12 after triumphant all-nighter| Check latest standings and complete winner list

PTC News Desk: India slipped to ninth place in the Commonwealth Games 2026 medal standings after Day 6, despite winning two more medals on Tuesday in Glasgow, Scotland. India's medal tally has now reached 12, including 2 gold, 7 silver, and 3 bronze medals with weightlifting and para-weightlifting continue to dominate. 

Half of these medals have come from weightlifting and para-weightlifting events.

Australia continues to lead the medal table with 77 medals, including 33 gold, 17 silver, and 27 bronze. Canada is in second place with 35 medals (13 gold, 10 silver, 12 bronze), while England is third with 43 medals (10 gold, 18 silver, 15 bronze). Hosts Scotland are fourth with 14 medals (7 gold, 4 silver, 3 bronze), followed by Nigeria in fifth with 11 medals (6 gold, 4 silver, 1 bronze).

India's biggest success has come in weightlifting. Mirabai Chanu won the country's first gold medal by claiming her third straight Commonwealth Games title in the women's 48kg category with a total lift of 190kg. Silver medals were won by Rishikanta Singh, Muthupandi Raja, Gyaneshwari Yadav, Valluri Ajaya Babu, and Harjinder Kaur in their respective events, while Bindyarani Devi earned a bronze medal.

On Tuesday, long-distance runner Gulveer Singh also made history by winning a silver medal in the men's 10,000m final.

Para-athletes dominate CWG 

In para athletics, Sharmila Dhankar created history by winning India's first-ever gold medal in the sport at the Commonwealth Games with a season-best throw of 9.81m in the women's F57 shot put event. Shilpa Shyla added a bronze medal in the same event. Jhandu Kumar won India's first medal of the Games with a bronze in para powerlifting, while Sarvesh Kushare claimed silver in the men's high jump.

With gold medals from Mirabai Chanu and Sharmila Dhankar, India will aim to continue its strong performance and add more medals in the remaining days of the Commonwealth Games.
