Hockey India unveils junior men's team for Europe tour

PTC Web Desk: Hockey India has revealed the lineup for the Junior Men's Hockey Team set to embark on a Europe tour from May 20 to May 29. During this tour, the team will compete in five matches across three nations against Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands club team, Bredase Hockey Vereniging Push.

The Indian Junior Men's Hockey squad aims to gain valuable exposure and enhance their experience through this initiative by Hockey India. The tour schedule includes matches against Belgium in Antwerp on May 20, followed by a rematch in Breda, Netherlands, on May 22. Additionally, they will face the Netherlands' Club team Bredase Hockey Vereniging Push in Breda on May 23 and take on Germany on May 28. The tour will conclude with a rematch against Germany in Breda on May 29.


The team will be led by defender Rohit, with Shardanand Tiwari serving as his deputy. Prince Deep Singh and Bikramjit Singh will lead the goalkeeping department, while the defensive lineup comprises Shardanand Tiwari, Yogember Rawat, Anmol Ekka, Rohit, Manoj Yadav, and Talem Priyo Barta.

Ankit Pal, Roshan Kujur, Bipin Billavara Ravi, Mukesh Toppo, Manmeet Singh, and Vachan H A will feature in the midfield, while the forward lineup includes Sourabh Anand Kushwaha, Arshdeep Singh, Gurjot Singh, Mohd. Konain Dad, Dilraj Singh, and Gursewak Singh.

Captain Rohit expressed excitement about the upcoming matches, stating, "We have been training hard at our camp and have developed an understanding of each other's gameplay. It will be wonderful to play together against teams from other nations to help us build on our game and get better through this kind of exposure."

Vice-Captain Shardanand Tiwari echoed Rohit's sentiments, emphasising the significance of the tour in evaluating the team's strengths and areas for improvement.
