Sexual harassment case: Woman accuses hockey player Varun Kumar of sexual assault; FIR registered
Sexual harassment case: Violence against daughter and women’s of the nation is increasing with the each passing day which has become the serious and deeply concerning issue especially in Punjab, Delhi and Haryana.
In the recent horrific and distressing case, hockey player Varun Kumar has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Bengaluru.
Registering a complaint, 22-year-old woman claim that Varun Kumar sexually assaulted her multiple times over last five years, making promises of marriage.
Bengaluru woman further stated that she met Varun when she was 17 and connected with him on Instagram in 2019.
The woman alleges that Varun Kumar engaged in sexual activities with her during his visits to Bengaluru's SAI stadium for hockey matches.
An FIR has been filed against the player and a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case has been registered against Indian hockey player Varun Kumar.
Varun Kumar is an Indian field hockey player who plays as a defender for Punjab Warriors in the Hockey India League and the Indian national team. Born in Punjab, Kumar belongs to Dalhousie, District Chamba, Himachal Pradesh; Kumar signed with the Punjab Warriors in the Hockey India League. He was retained for the 2014 season. After the season, he was retained for a period of two years for the 2015 and 2016 seasons of the league. Finally he won gold medal in 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou.
