IPL 2023: CSK beat RCB by eight runs in high-scoring thriller

Bengaluru (Karnataka), April 17: Devon Conway's 83-run knock, followed by Tushar Deshpande and Matheesha Pathirana's blistering spells, helped Chennai Super Kings (CSK) win an exciting 8-run match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday.

Deshpande took three wickets for CSK, while Pathirana took two to give Chennai a crucial victory over RCB. Glenn Maxwell led the way for the Royal Challengers Bangalore with 76 coming from 36 balls, while Faf du Plessis hit 62 off 33 balls in the high-scoring contest.

RCB suffered early blows as they lost the wickets of Virat Kohli and Mahipal Lomror while chasing a massive target of 227. Akash Singh bowled Kohli out in the first over, while Tushar Deshpande bowled Lomror out in the second.

The RCB charge was then handled by Glenn Maxwell and captain Faf du Plessis, who blasted CSK bowlers all over the ground while taking singles at regular intervals. The explosive duo of Maxwell and captain du Plessis reached their 100-run partnership in just 48 balls.

The dismissal of well-set and dangerous-looking Maxwell for 76 by Maheesh Theekshana handed RCB a significant breakthrough. Ali's ball du Plessis lost his wicket in the 14th over of the match after blasting a six against Moeen. After scoring 62 runs, du Plessis returned to the pavilion.

Dinesh Karthik then stepped out to bat and smashed boundaries and maximums at regular intervals to relieve some of the burden on his team. Karthik's fireworks, however, came to an end when he was dismissed by Tushar Deshpande after scoring 28 runs.

Matheesha Pathirana dismissed Shahbaz Ahmed for 12 in the 18th over. Wayne Parnell then stepped out to bat, but he couldn't do much before being dismissed by Deshpande.

Suyash Prabhudessai then stepped out to bat, and he smashed a six in the 19th over to give the RCB some hope. Pathirana defended an equation of 19 runs with his superb Yorkers in the final over and claimed the wicket of Prabhudessai to give his team an 8-run win over RCB.
