PTC News Desk: After fans linked Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker to Neeraj Chopra, the Indian shooter's father has refuted the marriage rumours. The rumours began after a video of Manu Bhaker's mother, Sumedha Bhaker, meeting Neeraj Chopra went viral.
The video created a frenzy on the internet, with others joking that she was talking to the javelin star to see whether he was a good match for her daughter.
Following the viral memes and posts, Manu Bhaker's father, Ram Kishan Bhaker, has spoken out, saying his daughter is "still too young" and they are "not thinking of her marriage." "Manu is still very young. She is not even of marriage age. I am not even thinking about it right now." Ram Kishan commented on the viral video of his wife and Neeraj Chopra, saying, "Manu's mother considers Neeraj like her son." Manu Bhaker's father is not the only one who has responded to the rumours. Neeraj Chopra's uncle has also spoken up about the incident. "When Neeraj brought the medal, the entire country learnt about it. Similarly, if he marries, everyone will know," he said.
Manu Bhaker and Neeraj Chopra are from Haryana. While Manu is the most successful Indian shooter in history, Neeraj is India's javelin hero who made history in the Tokyo Olympics by becoming the first Indian athlete to win an Olympic title in athletics.
Manu Bhaker won a bronze medal in the women's 10m air pistol event at the recently completed 2024 Paris Olympics. She became the first Indian woman shooter to reach the Olympic podium. Neeraj Chopra, the Tokyo 2020 champion, won a silver medal in this Olympics.
