Mumbai Indians unveil jersey for inaugural season of WPL 2023

Mumbai (Maharashtra), February 25: Mumbai Indians on Saturday unveiled their jersey for the upcoming season of the Women's Premier League (WPL).

The Mumbai Indians unveiled the jersey with a video on their social media accounts. The team led by India captain Harmanpreet Kaur will kick off their campaign against Gujarat Giants on March 4 at the DY Patil stadium.


Charlotte Edwards (Head Coach), Jhulan Goswami (Team Mentor and Bowling Coach), and Devieka Palshikaar make up the newly formed coaching team for the women's team (Batting Coach).

In its first season, five teams - the Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and UP Warriorz - splurged on some of the best players on the international and domestic circuits.

Smriti Mandhana of India was the top buy, selling for a whopping INR 3.40 crore to Royal Challengers Bangalore. Harmanpreet Kaur, Team India's captain, was signed by the Mumbai Indians for INR 1.80 crore, while the rest of the stars from India and around the world were also signed by one of the five franchises.

The top foreign buys were Australia all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner and England all-rounder Natalie Sciver, who were sold to Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians for INR 3.20 crore. 

In its inaugural season, the Women's Premier League will host 20 league matches and two playoff games over the course of 23 days.

The Women's Premier League 2023 Final will be held on March 26th at the Brabourne Stadium.
