Cricket World Cup 2023: As the ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 unfolds, the Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team is aiming for a fourth consecutive victory, having triumphed in their first three matches. The anticipation is palpable as cricket enthusiasts from around the world tune in to witness the India-Bangladesh showdown. While Bangladesh has a history of being formidable opponents, they have managed to secure only one win out of their three matches in the Cricket World Cup so far.

However, the match against India would see them missing their regular captain, Shakib Al Hasan, with Najmul Hossan Shanto taking the helm in his absence. In a surprising turn of events, just moments before the toss, it was announced that Shakib Al Hasan would not be taking the field against India. To shed light on this unexpected development, Najmul Hossain Shanto, who captained the Bangladesh team for the match, provided insight into the situation.

Shanto, while opting to bat first, shared, "It's a proud moment for me and my family. We'd like to bat today. The pitch looks fresh, and if we can post a competitive score, it'll be in our favour. Shakib is struggling a bit, and Nasum is coming in for him. We have fond memories of past encounters with India, and we hope to carry our winning form forward. I believe it's going to be an enthralling match. We cherish the presence of the crowd, and we hope they'll support both teams. Hasan comes in for Taskin."

Bangladesh's head coach, Chandika Hathurusingha, had earlier provided an update regarding Shakib Al Hasan's condition. Shakib sustained an injury while running during the previous match and, despite bowling his allotted ten overs, it was evident that he was in discomfort. Surprisingly, he did not partake in the post-match interaction, raising concerns about his fitness for the upcoming matches.

During a pre-match press conference, Hathurusingha addressed inquiries about the all-rounder's availability, stating, "If he is not ready to play, we won't risk him. But if he's ready, then there's a chance of him playing tomorrow."

Hathurusingha further elaborated, "He had a good batting session yesterday and engaged in some light running between the wickets. Today, we conducted a scan, and we are awaiting the results. At the moment, he appears to be in reasonable condition. We haven't assessed his bowling yet. Therefore, tomorrow morning, he will undergo further evaluation, following which a decision regarding his participation will be made."

As fans eagerly await Shakib Al Hasan's return, his absence against India underscores the unpredictability and excitement that the ODI Cricket World Cup continues to deliver.
