Washington (US), May 28: The instant messaging service Telegram has now moved closer to introducing its premium tier, according to recent reports.
As per a report by GSM Arena, the hint comes from a data string that drastically changes the wording of the welcome screen when downloading and installing the messaging app.
Currently, it reads "Telegram is free forever. No ads. No subscription fees." However, the text will now be replaced with "Telegram provides free unlimited cloud storage for chats and media."
This change clearly indicates that a subscription-based plan is in the works and will likely be introduced very soon.
According to GSM Arena, Telegram will offer exclusive features to paid accounts including a star badge that will appear next to the user's name in the chat lists. The app will also give access to exclusive stickers and reactions.
Meanwhile, the subscription cost has not been revealed.
