BSF personnel conferred with Police Medals at Investiture Ceremony
Chandigarh, May 3: The Western Command of the Border Security Force held an Investiture Ceremony on Wednesday, at Tagore Theatre in Sector-18, Chandigarh. The ceremony was organised to honor the serving and retired BSF personnel with Police Medals for Meritorious Service.
The event was graced by Banwarilal Purohit, Hon'ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator of Chandigarh, as the Chief Guest, and other distinguished dignitaries from civil and Police administration functioning in Tricity.

A total of 46 Officers, Subordinate Officers, and Other Ranks, including retired BSF personnel, were bestowed with Police Medals for Meritorious Service during the event. P VRama Sastry, IPS, ADG BSF Western Command, welcomed the Chief Guest and other esteemed dignitaries present at the function. He also reminded the audience about the glorious past of BSF and paid tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

The Police Medal for Meritorious Service is awarded to Central Armed Police Force and State Police personnel who have devoted more than 18 years of outstanding and unblemished service to the nation. This is the second time that this ceremony was organised in the city of Chandigarh under the Chairmanship of Hon'ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh.
During his address to the audience, Banwarilal Purohit, Hon'ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator of Chandigarh, lauded the contributions of BSF Officers and men in effectively securing Indo-Pak and Indo-Bangladesh borders during peace as well as war.
He also acknowledged the contribution of the Force in maintaining law and order situations in aid to the civil administration, in the Counter-Insurgency role, and helping state government machinery during Parliamentary and Assembly elections. At the end of the function, the chief guest congratulated all recipients of the medal and wished them and their families the best of luck.
