Punjab: BSF seizes Chinese-made drone in Tarn Taran, thwarts drugs smuggling attempt
Tarn Taran, December 2: The Border Security Force (BSF) in Punjab's Tarn Taran district seized a Chinese-manufactured drone from Khalra village on Friday, thereby thwarting another attempt to smuggle narcotics through aerial means. Acting on specific intel about a drone presence, the BSF conducted a thorough search operation on the outskirts of Khalra village on December 1.
During the evening hours, at approximately 6.35 pm, the BSF discovered a quadcopter drone, identified as a DJI Mavic 3 classic manufactured in China, in a farming field adjacent to Khalra village, Tarn Taran district. This seizure underscores the repeated efforts made by smugglers to transport illegal substances via drones, all of which have been intercepted by the vigilant BSF.

This recent event follows a similar incident on November 18, where the BSF recovered yet another Chinese-made quadcopter drone, model JI Mavic 3 Classic, in Wan village, Tarn Taran district. In this instance, BSF troops noticed a suspicious item in a farming field near Wan village during area domination patrols ahead of border fencing. Subsequent searches led to the discovery of the drone ahead of the border fence.
The authorities have noted multiple attempts at cross-border smuggling using drones, with the BSF and Punjab Police successfully thwarting such endeavors. Previously, on the nights of November 14 and 15, the BSF intercepted another Chinese-manufactured Pakistani quadcopter drone in Tarn Taran district, near village Mianwali. The swift response from the Central Armed Police Force ensured the interception of the suspected drone following established protocols.
