New Delhi, November 23: The ongoing farmers agitation between Jalandhar Cantt and Chiheru stations on the Amritsar-Sanehwal section over Ferozepur division in Punjab has led to extensive disruptions in train schedules within the Northern Railway network. The agitation has necessitated various diversions, terminations, originations, and regulations for several trains.

The railway authorities have announced the cancellation of several trains, including 12241 Chandigarh–Amritsar, 12242 Amritsar–Chandigarh, 12412 Amritsar–Chandigarh, 14654 Amritsar-Hisar, 04582 Ludhiana–Ambala Cantt, and 12460 Amritsar–New Delhi, among others, scheduled for November 23-24.

Several trains have been short-terminated or originated from different stations. The 12031 New Delhi–Amritsar Shatabdi Express was short terminated at Phagwara, while the 12032 Amritsar–New Delhi Shatabdi Express short-originated from Ludhiana. Similarly, the 12497/12498 Shan-e-Punjab Express and various other trains have been subjected to changes in their originating and terminating stations.

Besides, multiple trains have been diverted from their original routes. The 22479/22480 Sarbat Da Bhala Express, 12919 Malwa SF Express, 20847 Durg–Mumbai Central Superfast, 14673 Shaheed Express, 12317 Akal Takht Express, and various others have been rerouted via alternate paths, skipping specific stations along the route.

Furthermore, regulations have been enforced on trains such as 15707 Amrapali Express, which will be regulated at Chiheru due to the ongoing agitation.

Passengers are advised to stay updated with the railway authorities for further information on the status of their respective trains and to plan their journeys accordingly.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Northern Railway authorities expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers due to these unforeseen circumstances and assured them of their continued efforts to restore normalcy in train operations at the earliest possible time.
