Amritsar, April 17: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has issued a clarification regarding the viral video of a woman being denied entry to Amritsar’s Golden Temple as she had the tricolour painted on her face.
Gurcharan Singh Grewal, SGPC General Secretary, stated that it is a Sikh shrine and every religious place has its own decorum.

He further added that they welcome everyone and apologize if an official misbehaved. Grewal clarified that the flag on the woman’s face was not the national flag as it did not have the Ashoka Chakra. He concluded by saying that it could have been a political flag.
The video showed the woman accompanied by a man arguing with another man at the famous Amritsar Gurudwara. On being asked why the woman was not being allowed to enter, the man pointed out the flag painted on her face. He is heard saying “This is Punjab, not India.”
