PTC News Desk: A 75-year-old woman is battling for her life after two Rottweiler dogs attacked her near her residence in Dehradun on Sunday while she was on her morning walk.
The woman was immediately rushed to Doon hospital for treatment and later shifted to a private hospital after her condition worsened where she underwent multiple surgeries.
The incident was captured in CCTV and is doing rounds on social media. The woman's family filed a police complaint against the dog owner, after the attack.
Police have arrested the owner of the dogs for negligence in supervising the dogs and launched investigation into the matter.
Nafeez Ahmed, owner of the dogs had left them at the house of her friend, Mohammed Zaid from where the dogs mauled the woman. At the time of the incident, Zaid was not present at the house and dogs were under the supervision of only a domestic help.
Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Singh said, acting on the complaint given by Umang Nirwal, Kaushalya Devi’s son, a case was registered against the dog owner under relevant sections.
Notably, rottweilers are known to be one of the most aggressive dog breads banned in several countries. There is no such rule in India currently, however incidents like these have sparked massive outrage and alarming concerns.
