Man’s affair exposed after failed mobile payment for birth control pills!
PTC Web Desk: A man in China accidentally revealed his extramarital affair when a failed mobile payment transaction for birth control pills led pharmacy staff to contact his wife instead. The incident occurred in Yangjiang, Guangdong province, where the man attempted to buy contraceptive pills worth 15.8 yuan (around Rs 200) using a mobile payment code. According to a report by the South China Morning Post, a system error blocked the transaction.
To recover the payment, pharmacy staff dialed the phone number linked to his membership card. The call connected to his wife, who enquired about the purchase. When informed it was for contraceptive pills, the affair came to light instantly.
The man alleged that the disclosure ruined two families and filed a complaint with the Pinggang police station under the Gaoxin branch of Yangjiang Public Security Bureau. He also submitted a receipt for the purchase.
Commenting on the case, Fu Jian, director of Henan Zejin Law Firm, told Elephant News that while the man might attempt legal action, proving a violation of privacy would be challenging. “His infidelity is the root cause of the marital breakdown, and he must bear responsibility. At the same time, if the pharmacy mishandled his private information, they could face accountability—but only if sufficient evidence is shown,” he said.
The lawyer added that since the staff’s call was a standard payment recovery procedure rather than a deliberate leak, it would be difficult to link the incident directly to the collapse of his marriage.
