Tribute to mom’s birth month brings luck: Indian expat wins UAE’s first Dh100 million (Rs 240 cr) lottery jackpot
PTC Web Desk: In a story that beautifully blends luck, love, and destiny, 29-year-old Indian expat Anilkumar Bolla from Abu Dhabi has become the first-ever winner of the UAE Lottery’s Dh100 million (over Rs 240 crore) jackpot. His winning numbers weren’t random; they carried an emotional connection to his mother.
Bolla struck gold in the 23rd Lucky Day Draw held on October 18, when his ticket matched all seven winning numbers — 7, 10, 11, 18, 25, 29 (Days Set) and 11 (Months Set). The number 11, he revealed, was a heartfelt tribute to his mother’s birth month, making his win even more special.
“When I got the call from the UAE Lottery team, I couldn’t believe it,” Bolla recalled. “I was sitting on my sofa, in complete shock, realising that my life had changed forever,” he added.
With his life now transformed, Bolla plans to make thoughtful financial decisions. “I want to invest this money wisely and spend it in the right way,” he said. “This win has given me the confidence to dream bigger.”
His wish list includes buying a supercar, celebrating at a seven-star hotel, and most importantly, bringing his family to the UAE to enjoy a better life together. “I just want to take my family here and live every moment with them,” he said emotionally.
Bolla also plans to donate part of his winnings to charity, believing that sharing his fortune will bring him “core happiness.” Expressing gratitude to the UAE Lottery, he said, “It’s a very big opportunity, and I hope it continues to bring joy to others.”
