Notably, the polling in Uttarakhand took place for the 70-seat Assembly on February 14 and the counting of votes will be done on March 10.
The Harish Rawat-led Congress administration was defeated in the 2017 Uttarakhand elections, with the BJP winning 57 seats in the 70-member House. Following that, Trivendra Singh Rawat served as the state's Chief Minister until March 9, when he resigned due to a "collective decision" by the BJP's high command. Because the Election Commission was unlikely to hold a by-election due to the Covid-19 situation he was replaced by Pushkar Dhami.
In the 2022 Assembly election in Uttarakhand, AAP declared Colonel (retd.) Ajay Kothiyal as its CM face, while Congress did not project either Harish Rawat or any other leader as its Chief Ministerial candidate.
