Four killed, several injured in shooting during family gathering at California banquet hall
PTC News Desk: Four people died and ten others were injured when armed attackers opened fire during a family event inside a banquet hall in Stockton, Northern California, on Sunday. Investigators believe the shooting may have been planned and targeted.
Shooting at a Birthday Party
The attack happened during a child’s birthday celebration at a banquet hall in a commercial area on Lucile Avenue, about 50 miles from San Francisco. According to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, 14 people were shot. Both children and adults were among the victims. Emergency teams rushed to the scene, and videos online showed responders helping the injured in the parking area. Several of them were taken to nearby hospitals, but their conditions are not yet known.
May Have Been a Targeted Attack
Police say early findings suggest the shooting was not random. Witnesses reported chaos as gunfire broke out, with families trying to hide and escape. Detectives collected evidence and spoke with people who were present. Stockton’s vice mayor, Jason Lee, said he is staying in touch with officials and asking for answers about what exactly happened.
Police Still Investigating
The investigation is still at an early stage. No arrests have been made yet, and it is not clear how many shooters were involved. The area was cordoned off overnight, and police have asked the public to share any videos or information.
