PTC News Desk: US President Donald Trump on Monday praised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him a 'great friend' and India a 'great country'.
Gesturing toward Shehbaz Sharif, who was standing behind him, Trump quipped, "He is going to help make that happen, right?"
"India is a great country with a very good friend of mine at the top and he's just done a fantastic job. Pakistan PM who was immediately invited after Trump to speak, thanked Trump for resolving nuclear conflict between India and Pakistan.
"Had it not been for this gentleman, who knows -- India and Pakistan are both nuclear powers -- had he not intervened with his wonderful team during those four days, the war could have escalated to a level where no one would have lived to tell what happened," Sharif said.
Meanwhile PM Modi skipped the Gaza Peace Summit held in Egypt and India was rather represented by Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh, the first Indian minister to officially meet Trump since Operation Sindoor. He attended the summit as PM Modi's special envoy.
