H-1B visa registration deadline for 2025 approaching | Check Details

PTC Web Desk: The registration period for H-1B visas for fiscal year 2025 is swiftly drawing to a close, with the deadline set at 12 noon Eastern Time on March 22, as stated by a federal agency. This window for registration commenced on March 6, providing prospective petitioners an opportunity to secure this coveted visa category.

Favoured by Indian Professionals

The H-1B visa is highly sought after by foreign guest workers, particularly Indian professionals aspiring to work in the United States. During the open registration period, which spans from March 6 to March 22, prospective petitioners, along with their legal representatives, are required to utilise the online platform 'myUSCIS' provided by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to electronically register each beneficiary for the selection process.

Employers now have the convenience of using the new organisational account 'myUSCIS' to register multiple entities under a single account. Additionally, USCIS has announced updates to the online account features, allowing users to collaborate on registrations and petitions more efficiently.

Anticipated Decrease in Applicants

This year, USCIS anticipates a decrease in the number of applicants, estimating around 350,000 registrations. This decline is attributed to the implementation of new measures aimed at curbing fraud. In 2022, Indians secured a staggering 77% of the 320,000 approved H-1B visas, illustrating the significant interest from the Indian professional community. Last year, USCIS identified over 400,000 duplicated registrations out of a total of 759,000.

Fee Increases for Visa Petitions

Employers hiring high-skilled foreign nationals are set to face significant fee increases for various visa petitions this year, according to a final rule released on January 30. Beneficiaries on H-1B petitions will experience a 70% rise in USCIS filing fees, while those on L-1 petitions will see a staggering 201% increase. Individuals on O-1 petitions will encounter a 129% fee hike.

Online Filing of Forms

USCIS has announced the availability of Form I-129 for H-1B petitions and Form I-907 for premium processing service in USCIS online accounts. The agency will commence accepting online filing of forms for H-1B cap petitions on April 1, with further updates regarding non-cap H-1B petitions to follow.
