Hardeep Singh Nijjar shot dead in Canada

PTC News Desk: Canada-based pro-Khalistan leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar shot dead in the Punjabi-dominated Surrey city of British Columbia province. He played a key role in organising the Khalistan referendum in Brampton.

The shooting took place in the Gurdwara's parking lot, with witnesses reporting two gunmen fleeing the scene. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is currently investigating the incident.

Hardeep Singh Nijjar was head of the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara Sahib and chief of the Khalistan Tiger Force and was responsible for promoting the secessionist and terror agenda of Gurpatwant Singh Pannun-run ‘Sikhs for Justice’ (SFJ).

According to the Union government, Hardeep Singh Nijjar was extensively involved in operationalising, networking, training, and financing members of the Khalistan Tiger Force. He was also charged in a National Investigation Agency (NIA) investigation. He was also involved with Sikh for Justice and just travelled to Australia to vote in the referendum.



He was known for delivering inflammatory and hateful speeches through social media platforms. In another case, the NIA had also attached Nijjar's property in his village in Punjab.


A cash reward of Rs 10 lakh was previously announced for information leading to the arrest of Nijjar, who was the chief of the Khalistan Tiger Force, a pro-Khalistani outfit. He had also been accused of killing Ripudaman Singh Malik, who was acquitted in the 1985 Air India terrorist bombing case, in Surrey last year.
