Pahalgam terrorists' funeral in PoK confirms Pak link in massacre
PTC News Desk: The funeral of Habib Tahir, one of the terrorists involved in the April 22 Pahalgam attack, was held last week in his native village in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), further underscoring Pakistan's role in cross-border terrorism and the Pahalgam strike.
Earlier, Pakistan Army personnel were seen attending the funerals of terrorists eliminated in India’s Operation Sindoor, which was launched in retaliation for the killing of 26 tourists—including a Nepali national—in the Pahalgam attack. The slain militants were affiliated with the banned outfit Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), led by designated terrorist Hafiz Saeed.
Sources indicate that Tahir was recruited and trained by the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The Resistance Front (TRF), an LeT proxy, had claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam attack and was recently designated a terrorist organization by the United States.
Tahir was one of three terrorists killed by Indian security forces on July 28 during an encounter at Harwan in Srinagar. Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar, GV Sundeep Chakravarty confirmed that the militants were affiliated with LeT and were neutralized during Operation Mahadev.
Videos and photos available on social media showed local residents in PoK's Kuiyaan village gathering for the final prayers for Tahir on July 30.
Last month, Pakistan asserted that it had "dismantled" the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and dismissed any attempt to connect the Pahalgam Terror Attack to the now-banned group as unfounded. It claimed the investigation into the incident remains "inconclusive" and insisted that "any association with LeT, a defunct organisation already outlawed in Pakistan, does not reflect the current ground realities."
