Thailand school shooting shocker: The student accused of carrying out Friday's deadly school shooting in Thailand allegedly killed his grandparents at their home before heading to his school, where he opened fire on students and teachers, the police said as they revealed fresh details about the tragedy.
The attack claimed the lives of seven persons, including the suspected gunman. The police said the student later died after turning the gun on himself.

According to Thai police, the teenager first went to his grandparents' residence and fatally shot both of them before travelling to Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Nonthaburi province, northwest of Bangkok.
Investigators believe the firearm used in the attack belonged to a member of the student's family. Authorities are continuing to investigate the motive behind both shootings.
The shooting triggered panic across the school campus as students rushed to escape while emergency services arrived at the scene. Teachers were seen comforting one another outside the school, while ambulances transported the injured to nearby hospitals. An 18-year-old student said he initially mistook the gunfire for firecrackers. "There were repeated loud sounds. At first, I didn't realise they were gunshots," the student recalled.
Images from the scene showed police securing the campus as frightened students and teachers gathered outside.
Thailand's Education Minister Prasert Jantararuangtong confirmed that both teachers and students were among those killed in the attack.
Emergency responder Kiatikhun Verapongpradith said rescue teams reached the school while the shooting was still in progress.
He said responders found a male teacher dead on an upper floor of the school, while a female teacher suffering gunshot wounds to her chest and arm was given CPR for around 30 minutes before being rushed to hospital. Despite their efforts, she could not be saved.
The police said 15 persons were injured in the shooting. According to local broadcaster Channel 3, two of the injured remain in critical condition. The school had approximately 3,100 students and 147 teachers during the 2025 academic year, district authorities said.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul expressed condolences to the victims' families and directed officials to ensure assistance for those affected. Deputy Education Minister Akkharanan Kannakittinan said the government is coordinating relief and support for victims and their families.
