Three killed, several injured in fast food restaurant shooting in southern Idaho in US
PTC News Desk: At least three people were killed and seven others were injured in a shooting at an In-N-Out Burger outlet in southern Idaho on Saturday afternoon.
Authorities also found the suspected gunman dead near the restaurant. However, officials have not confirmed whether the shooter is included in the three reported fatalities. The identities of those killed have not yet been released.
Twin Falls city spokesperson Josh Palmer said officials are still working to identify the victims. Police discovered the suspected shooter's body in an area close to the restaurant, but it remains unclear whether he died during the incident or by other means.
Matthew Hicks said investigators are trying to determine the shooter's identity and motive.
Meanwhile, eyewitnesses described the actions of an armed bystander who appeared to confront the gunman during the attack. Videos shared by people at the scene reportedly captured the man engaging the shooter.
One witness, Lane Koehn, said he was stopped at a traffic light near the restaurant when he saw the suspect carrying an AR-style rifle at the drive-thru. He later saw another man fire a handgun at the shooter.
Koehn also recalled seeing a restaurant employee pull an injured, bleeding person across the parking lot before police ordered everyone in the area to evacuate.
The armed bystander has since drawn widespread praise on social media, with many calling him a hero for confronting the gunman and potentially preventing further casualties. Authorities, however, have not officially commented on the bystander's role in the incident.
