UK reminisces Trump's immigration crackdown, Indian restaurants on target
PTC News Desk: In a similar act with Donald Trump's administration, UK has also unleashed a tough crackdown on immigration. The United Kingdom's labour government has launched massive raids on illegal workers in the country.
The crackdown titles as "UK-wide blitz" has been spanned across Indian restaurants, nail bars, convenience stores which mostly hire migrant workers in huge numbers.
Under the direct oversight of British Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, the Home Office announced a record-setting January, with operations targeting 828 locations—an increase of 48% compared to the previous January. Arrests also saw a significant rise, reaching 609, reflecting a 73% year-on-year jump.
"The immigration rules must be respected and enforced. For far too long, employers have been able to take on and exploit illegal migrants and too many people have been able to arrive and work illegally with no enforcement action ever taken," said Cooper.
"Not only does this create a dangerous draw for people to risk their lives by crossing the Channel in a small boat, but it results in the abuse of vulnerable people, the immigration system, and our economy," she added.
The public must have confidence in the UK's immigration system.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer is facing growing pressure to demonstrate his government's firmness on illegal immigration. To address this, they are utilizing specially arranged charter flights to deport "immigration offenders" to various countries, including four of the largest migrant return flights in the UK's history, which have transported over 800 individuals.
