Won't get Nobel for halting India-Pak war: Trump again claims credit after PM fact-checks
PTC News Desk: US President Donald Trump has once again claimed the credit for brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan despite being fact-checked by PM Modi over the issues days ago.
"I won't get a Nobel Peace Prize for stopping the War between India and Pakistan... I won't get a Nobel Peace Prize, no matter what I do," Trump said while listing a series of key diplomatic peace outcomes that he claimed to have brokered.
"Representatives from Rwanda and the Congo will be in Washington on Monday to sign documents. This is a Great Day for Africa and, quite frankly, a Great Day for the World!" Trump said.
The unconventional US President opened his lengthy statement by revealing that he and Secretary of State Marco Rubio had successfully negotiated a "wonderful" peace treaty between Rwanda and Congo, aimed at ending a war marked by "violent bloodshed and death."
The truce, mediated by the US and Qatar, brings Rwanda and Congo to an agreement to cease decades of conflict that claimed thousands of lives and forced hundreds of thousands to flee their homes.
India has maintained that Pakistan Director General of Military Operation had sought a dialogue with Indian counterpart on MAY 10 following India's scathing attack on several airbases of Pakistan.
