1.5 Crores in cash Seized In Tamil Nadu to bribe voters Income Tax officials seized unaccounted cash worth Rs 1.48 crore meant to bribe voters in the coming Lok Sabha election. The seizure was made during raids in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. Raids were conducted overnight on a party colleague of TTV Dhinakaran of AMMK (Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam) in Andipatti, where assembly by-elections were to be held tomorrow along with the national election. Packets were carefully marked that revealed the plan to give each voter Rs. 300 as a bribe. The raids took place hours after the Election Commission cancelled voting in Vellore because a massive amount of cash seized from the warehouse of a DMK candidate. According to media reports, AMMK party workers tried to fight the Income Tax and Election Commission, teams. It was then the police fired in the air to disperse the crowd. No one was injured in the firing. The raids ended at around 5:30 on Tuesday morning.
