8 days on, Punjab police still clueless on Golden Temple sacrilege accused's identity
Even after 8 days of the sacrilege bid at the Golden Temple in Amritsar, the Punjab Police are yet to ascertain the identity of the accused, who was beaten to death by an angry mob. Punjab DGP Siddharth Chattopadhyaya on Saturday said that "the accused has not been identified as of now."
While addressing the media persons, Punjab DGP Siddharth Chattopadhyaya said that "We have registered a case in the sacrilege incident at the Golden Temple in Amritsar."

"We have even set up an SIT in the case. They will be giving us a report shortly. The deceased has not been identified as of now. We are assessing all the inputs including CCTV," he said.

It is pertinent to mention that the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has set up an inquiry panel to investigate the sacrilege attempt at the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
A man was beaten to death in an altercation by angry devotees after he allegedly attempted to commit sacrilege at the Golden Temple in Amritsar, earlier on December 18.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed by the state government to probe the Golden Temple incident. However, nothing has been reported by the investigating team.
