Amarnath Yatra 2019: Security forces focus on quick actions for safety measures

Amarnath Yatra 2019: With Amarnath Yatra just a few days away, the security forces are focusing on quick actions over the security arrangements for the pilgrims. The security forces ahead of the Amarnath Yatra 2019, has deployed several quick action teams, security convoys, better deployments for the safety measures of the pilgrims. In the light of recent Terrorist attacks in the valley, the security forces are improving counter-IED measures for the oncoming Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir. In a recent meeting, the needs of surveillance by UAVs helicopters and the need of road opening party between Ramban and Jawahar Tunnel were also discussed, say the officials. The tunnel is being reviewed in an order to prevent emerging threats from the vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (IEDs). This step is taken due to the recent Pulwama attack which took place on February 14, in which 40 CRPF soldiers were martyred. The road opening party (ROP) will look ahead to block the link roads during the military convoy movement. The vehicles with mine-protection and the bulletproof technologies have been increased. Also, the bomb detection squad along with the dog squads has been arranged in an order to counter the IEDs. The Amarnath yatra 2019 will begin from the July 2 to 15th August which is said to be a suitable time for the Yatra. Also Read: Three Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists arrested in Jammu and Kashmir The teams which have been chosen for deployment at Amarnath Yatra 2019 had been experienced in involvement in over 30 encounters with terrorists from January 2018 till March this year. Meanwhile, 115 terrorists have been neutralized by the security forces in this year so far, in comparison to the 257 terrorists killed last year. -PTC News
