A 28-year-old girl was killed and her mother was seriously injured after an auto rickshaw they were travelling in hit by a speeding car in Punjab’s Amritsar district on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Janvi (28),a resident of Mumbai. The deceased’s mother was admitted to civil hospital in Amritsar.

Meanwhile, the police arrested the car  driver and registered a  case against him under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 304 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 304 A (causing death by negligence).
