PTC Web Desk:  Actor Kriti Sanon has responded to the controversy surrounding her Raksha Bandhan advertisement after BJP MP and actor Kangana Ranaut criticised her outfit in the campaign.

Kangana had questioned Kriti's choice of clothing in the jewellery brand's advertisement and described the campaign as "intentionally creepy". Kriti later addressed the criticism through a statement shared on her Instagram Stories.

Without directly attacking Kangana, Kriti questioned why a woman's clothes continue to be linked with her culture and character.

She said the real meaning of festivals lies in the emotions and traditions behind them, rather than in what someone chooses to wear.

Kriti also asked: "When will we stop telling women what to wear?"

She pointed out that ethnic fashion has changed over the years, but women are still often judged based on their appearance and clothing.

According to Kriti, culture and traditions are a matter of personal belief and emotion, and should not be judged simply by a woman's neckline or outfit.

What did Kangana Ranaut say about Kriti's ad?

The controversy began after Kangana reacted to Kriti's Raksha Bandhan campaign on social media. In the advertisement, Kriti is seen celebrating the festival in a bralette-style blouse paired with a cape and a draped skirt. Some social media users criticised the look and questioned whether it was appropriate for a Raksha Bandhan campaign.

Kangana joined the criticism and questioned why someone would choose such an outfit while tying a rakhi to their brother.

She argued that women today have many fashion choices, ranging from traditional Indian clothing to western outfits, and questioned the styling decision made for the advertisement.

Kriti defends tying rakhi to dogs

Kriti also addressed criticism over another part of the campaign in which she tied a rakhi to a dog. Explaining her perspective, the actor said Raksha Bandhan represents a bond of protection. She said she and her sister tie rakhis to each other because they believe they can protect one another just as a brother would.

Kriti added that the same feeling of love and protection extends to their dogs because they consider them part of the family.

Kangana takes another swipe at Bollywood personalities

Meanwhile, Kangana also took aim at several other celebrities in a separate social media post. She mentioned Taapsee Pannu, Rakhi Sawant, Sonu Sood and Ashutosh Rana while responding to comments made about her family, political views and public conduct.

Kangana said she did not feel the need to take advice from people she considered less successful than herself and used strong words while hitting back at her critics.

The exchange between Kangana and Kriti has since triggered a fresh debate online about fashion, cultural traditions and the scrutiny faced by women over their clothing choices.
