PTC Web Desk: Amid growing concerns and social media claims about E20 petrol affecting vehicle mileage, engine performance and maintenance costs, Punjabi singer Resham Singh Anmol has shared his experience with his luxury SUV.

Anmol, who lives in Haryana, said his nearly Rs 1.55 crore Land Rover Defender 110, purchased around eight months ago, suddenly stopped while he was travelling. According to him, the vehicle was taken to the company’s service centre, where he was told that its fuel pump had failed allegedly because of poor-quality fuel. The singer has now urged authorities to make public a list of fuel stations where premium petrol such as XP95 and XP100 is available.

In a video circulating on social media, Anmol said his Defender was relatively new and had undergone only one service when it stopped unexpectedly while he was on the road.

He said he contacted the company after the incident and was advised to get the vehicle inspected. After the SUV reached the authorised service centre, he was reportedly informed that the fuel pump had failed and needed to be replaced. According to Anmol, the service centre attributed the failure to “bad fuel”.

The singer said he had been using XP95 high-octane petrol for around 70% of the fuel filled in the vehicle. Following the fuel-pump failure, he said he stopped using regular petrol.

‘XP95, XP100 not easily available’

Anmol said he subsequently faced another problem while searching for premium petrol. According to him, he visited several fuel stations looking for XP95 or XP100 but could not find either product. He said that even after visiting six or seven petrol pumps, he was unable to locate the fuel he wanted.

He appealed to the government to publish an updated list of petrol pumps where premium fuel is available.

“People should know where they can get good-quality fuel,” he said, while also claiming that the issue may not be limited to his vehicle.

What happened to the Defender?

According to information, the vehicle broke down on May 27, 2026, while Anmol and his team were travelling for a show.

The Defender reportedly stopped suddenly during the journey. After contacting the company, Anmol was advised not to restart the vehicle for about an hour.

The SUV was subsequently taken to an agency in Chandigarh for inspection. The fuel pump was found to be faulty and was later replaced.

A few days ago, Anmol was travelling from Chandigarh to Delhi with his team to support and provide services to students holding a protest at Jantar Mantar. During the journey, he reportedly stopped at around five petrol pumps while looking for XP100 premium petrol. However, he said the fuel was unavailable.

After facing difficulty finding premium petrol, Anmol recorded the video in which he raised concerns about the availability of high-octane fuel.

The singer has appealed to the government and authorities concerned to make information about premium fuel availability easily accessible.

He said a publicly available list of petrol stations selling XP95 and XP100 would help motorists avoid unnecessary searches and plan their journeys more easily.

Anmol also asked other vehicle owners who may have experienced similar fuel-related problems to share their experiences.

The incident comes at a time when E20 petrol has become a subject of intense discussion among vehicle owners in India. Claims about lower mileage, engine-related problems and higher maintenance expenses have been circulating widely.

However, Anmol’s claim about the fuel pump failure is his account of what he was told at the service centre and does not, by itself, establish that E20 petrol caused the failure. The exact cause of the mechanical problem would require confirmation from the vehicle manufacturer, service centre and relevant technical records.

For motorists, the availability of premium fuel remains a separate concern, particularly for those who prefer higher-octane petrol for vehicles that recommend or benefit from it.
