PTC Web Desk: The IIT Delhi zone emerged as the top performer in JEE (Advanced) 2026, with candidates from the region securing both the overall top rank and the highest position among female candidates after the results were announced on Monday.

Shubham Kumar clinched All India Rank (AIR) 1 by scoring 330 marks out of 360, registering one of the highest scores recorded in recent years in the highly competitive engineering entrance examination.

Adding to the achievement for the IIT Delhi zone, Arohi Deshpande became the highest-ranked female candidate by securing Common Rank List (CRL) 77.

According to official data, a total of 1,79,694 candidates appeared for both papers of JEE (Advanced) 2026. Out of them, 56,880 candidates qualified for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), highlighting the intense competition for seats in the country’s premier engineering institutes.

Among the qualified candidates, 10,107 are women, indicating a steady rise in female participation and success in the examination over the years.

With the rank list now released, the admission process will move towards counselling and seat allocation.

Top rank holders are expected to compete for highly sought-after branches such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mathematics at various IIT campuses.

The exceptional performance of the IIT Delhi zone is likely to remain one of the major highlights of this year’s JEE (Advanced) results, as the region produced both the national topper and the highest-ranked female candidate.
