NEET-UG held on May 3 cancelled after paper leak in Rajasthan, CBI to investigation matter

PTC News Desk: NEET UG 2026 has reportedly been cancelled after allegations that a “guess paper” was leaked, according to the latest statement by NTA on X.

The decision came after central agencies flagged concerns about the fairness and integrity of the exam conducted on May 3.

With lakhs of students affected, the government has stepped in, ordering a CBI investigation and announcing a re-exam to restore confidence in the examination system.

The Government of India has handed the case over to the CBI for a detailed investigation.

The agency will look into how the alleged “guess paper” was circulated before the exam and whether there was organised cheating involved. The NTA has said it will fully support the investigation by providing all necessary records and data.

In Rajasthan, more than 45 people have reportedly been detained so far in connection with the NEET paper leak case. Early reports suggest that the leaked material may have come from a printing press, raising concerns about security lapses during the printing process. It is also believed that a handwritten version of the question paper was circulated, indicating a possible leak at an early stage.

What NTA said about re-exam

The NTA has confirmed that NEET UG 2026 will be conducted again, and new dates will be announced soon officially.

It also admitted that holding a re-exam will cause inconvenience to students and families, but said it is necessary, as proceeding with a compromised exam would have seriously damaged trust in the system in the long run.
