NEET 2026 row: 140 questions in 'guess paper' match actual exam in Rajasthan, probe underway
PTC News Desk: A controversy surrounding NEET 2026 examination has erupted after investigation in Rajasthan found that a 'guess paper' circulated among students in Rajasthan’s Sikar allegedly matched a large number of questions asked in the actual exam.
The Rajasthan Police Special Operations Group (SOG) has launched an investigation into possible paper leak allegations linked to the medical entrance exam held on May 3.
Investigators are now trying to establish whether the material was just an unusually accurate question bank or part of an actual leak before the examination.
The incident came to the fore after an MBBS student from Kerala allegedly shared a questionnaire with a friend in Rajasthan’s Sikar on May 1. The questionnaire was later shared through WhatsApp groups, coaching centres, PG accommodations and career counsellors.
According to the Special Operations Group (SOG) investigation, nearly 140 to 150 questions out of around 300 in the circulated document were found to be exactly the same as those in the NEET exam. Some reports also claimed that questions worth nearly 600 marks out of the total 720 matched the leaked material. The controversy grew further after investigators found that even the sequence of answer options in several questions was allegedly identical to the circulated document. Since each NEET question carries four marks, officials believe the overlap could have significantly affected rankings and admissions if the allegations are proven true.
The SOG has detained 13 suspects from Dehradun, Sikar and Jhunjhunu based on intelligence inputs. A career counsellor linked to a coaching institute in Sikar has also been arrested, according to reports.
Investigators are now trying to find out whether the document was just a highly accurate “guess paper” or proof that the NEET question bank had actually leaked before the examination.
The probe further revealed that the material was widely circulated through encrypted messaging apps and social media platforms. Some recovered chats reportedly showed the “forwarded many times” label, suggesting the questions may have reached a large number of students before the exam.
A PG accommodation operator in Sikar is also being investigated after officials found that he had allegedly shared the material before later filing a complaint with the police and the National Testing Agency (NTA).
