PTC Web Desk: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to extend the registration period for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2024 until March 16, as announced on Monday. As per the official statement, NEET UG 2024 examination is scheduled to take place on May 5 from 2 pm to 5.20 pm across the country, and in 14 international cities in pen and paper (offline) mode.

The registration process for the online application forms for NEET (UG) 2024 commenced on February 9 and has seen ongoing participation. The decision to extend the registration window was influenced by representations received from stakeholders regarding changes in NEET (UG) 2024.

Emphasising that this extension is a one-time opportunity, the NTA advised candidates to use it judiciously, as no further chances will be provided for applying to NEET (UG)-2024. The agency urged applicants to take note of this and complete the online application form accordingly. In case of any difficulties during the process, candidates can reach out to the provided contact number, 011-40759000.

The NTA stressed the importance of regularly checking the official website (www.nta.ac.in) for the latest updates. With the rising trend of NEET registrations in recent years, reaching 1,872,339 in 2022 and 2,087,462 in 2023, the competition among aspirants is intensifying. In 2022, 993,069 candidates qualified for the exam with a 56.21% qualifying rate, while in 2023, 1,145,976 candidates qualified with a slightly increased qualifying rate of 56.27%. Anticipating around 22 lakh applications in NEET 2024, the trend of escalating registrations and competition is expected to persist this year.
