Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday rejected Punjab Congress party’s offer to contest Lok Sabha polls from Amritsar, sources said.

Manmohan Singh expressed his unwillingness to contest Lok Sabha polls from Amritsar and cited health and age concerns.
On Sunday, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, State party Chief Sunil Jakhar and General Secretary in-charge of Punjab affairs Asha Kumari met Manmohan Singh at his residence in New Delhi. The meeting was to urge him to contest Lok Sabha polls from Amritsar.

The former Prime Minister is turning 87 this year. His Rajya Sabha term is also ending this June.
