PTC News Desk: A ground handling employee at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport has been arrested after a Korean national accused him of sexually assaulting her under the guise of a security check.

According to the woman’s police complaint, the incident occurred on Monday, January 19, when she was at the airport to board a flight to Korea. After clearing immigration, she was heading towards the terminal when a male staff member, identified as Mohammed Affan, stopped her and asked for her boarding pass. He allegedly told her there was an issue with her check-in baggage, claiming it had triggered a beep. Affan is employed with Air India SATS, a company that handles ground and cargo operations.

The accused reportedly told her that going back to the main screening area would cause delays and could make her miss her flight. He then insisted on conducting a separate check and led her near the men’s washroom, where he allegedly touched her inappropriately despite her protests. When she resisted, he allegedly hugged her, said “thank you,” and left the spot.

The woman immediately alerted airport security, who detained the accused and handed him over to the police. After reviewing CCTV footage, which reportedly corroborated the incident, airport police registered a case based on her complaint and arrested Affan. Further investigation is ongoing.
