Airfares to hike sharply: A sharp rise in the airfares as airlines go for a steep hike in ticket prices against the backdrop of surge in the prices of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) from April 1 amid escalating tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, disrupting global energy supply.
This sharp surge is expected to weigh on travellers’ plans in the summer holiday season.
Besides international, airfares have also gone up in the domestic market as well especially between key metro sectors and popular holiday destinations.
